Neuromancer

During the 1st 15 seconds of this AMV was thinking, "on no, this song sucks, this video is lame". Just seconds later, started to notice the amount of detail that went into the video editing,  the transitions and blending are superb. The song added to the "oh no" thought but actually ended up enjoying it after the lyrics started.

Neuromancer is a multi editor project featuring 3 editors 2 of which have been previously featured on AMV Relish.

Here are a couple more Anime Music Videos by the editors of this AMV

    Author's Notes

irriadin writes... "Firstly, this album is AWSM and relates very well to the themes I will write about, so check it out:

Cyberpunk is a literary subgenre popularized in the mid 80's that influenced a wide array of art, music, movies, literature and culture. Technological advancement
began to challenge social norms that have been accepted by society since the beginning of recorded history; the concept of identity, how we socialize, transhumanism... Cyberpunk
is an exploration of these ideologies and an attempt to answer the question "what truly makes us human?"

To say that anime has been influenced by Cyberpunk and the questions it asks is an understatement; works like Akira, Battle Angel Alita and Ghost in the Shell were
extremely popular, not just because they were well done, but because of the relatedness of their themes.

Extra reading, if you are interested:

Concerning this video... I wanted to portray the essence of Cyberpunk. Transhumanism, (in the form of androids, cyborgs, AIs) "high-tech, low-life", etc. We don't live in an age
as depicted in this video, but this is the kind of world envisioned during a time when Blade Runner, Akira and William Gibson's Neuromancer were conceived."

Replay writes... "Irriadin came up with the idea to use cyberpunk. Shin and I thought it was a good idea and so we went with it. While editing this, I found out that I hate editing with Lain :P"

Shin writes... "At first I didn't see how we were really fitting into the theme at all, but then after looking into cyberpunk culture and how it kinda blossomed and became a 'thing' in the 80s it ended up making enough sense to me. Plus I was just going to do whatever everyone else wanted to edit anyways."

Nothing like an awesome to MMV (manga music video) to mix things up. Superb editing on this video, never having a still image and run...
